THE HISTORY OF VETERANS' DAY!!

Veterans Day   is an official   United States   federal holiday   that is observed annually on November 11, honoring people who have served in the   U.S. Armed Forces , also known as   veterans . It coincides with other holidays including   Armistice Day   and  Remembrance Day , which are celebrated in other parts of the world and also mark the anniversary of the end of   World War I   (major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the   Armistice with Germany   went into effect). The United States also originally observed Armistice Day; it then evolved into the current Veterans Day holiday in 1954.    Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial Day; Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who gave their lives and those who perished while in service. This is a good make-ahead dessert, as cheesecake keeps well in the refrigerator for several days.    To prevent the top from cracking, be careful not to overmix the batter, and do not open the oven door while the cake is baking or cooling inside the oven.           Prep Time   30 minutes Total Time   8 hours Yield  Serves 12 Ingredients For the Crust 1 1/4 cups graham-cracker crumbs (from 10 whole crackers) 1/4 cup sugar 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted For the Filling 4 packages (8 ounces each) bar cream cheese, very soft 1 1/4 cups sugar 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1 cup canned pumpkin puree 2 tablespoons pumpkin-pie spice 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
